Lafayette, LA –

Did you know that the turkey on your Thanksgiving table is actually a dinosaur? Join us for a fun-filled STEM Saturday on November 14 from 10am to 1:30pm as we explore the science behind one of the coolest facts in paleontology: birds are living dinosaurs!

Young scientists will investigate what turkeys and dinosaurs have in common, test different “dinosaur beaks” to see which ones are best at collecting food and create their very own Thanksgiving dinosaur. Along the way, we’ll use clues from bones, feet, feathers, eggs, and more to discover how scientists know that today’s birds are descendants of dinosaurs.
STEM Saturdays are made possible through a grant from Halliburton. Held once a month, these events provide extra educational activities focused on a science topic and are included with regular museum admission. The open-ended nature of the activities allow visitors to come and go while exploring museum exhibits and the planetarium. Geared toward elementary and middle school age groups, all ages are welcome. Adults and older children can have fun learning and helping younger children. #halliburtongiving
