On July 11, 2026, STEM Saturday: Our Sun will be held from 10am-1:30 pm. Join us to learn all about our solar system’s one and only star, the sun. Explore the life cycle and different types of stars, and find out what gives our sun its unique ability to fuel life on Earth. Weather permitting, budding astronomers can peer through our safe solar telescope and may even see sun spots on the surface of the sun.

STEM Saturdays are made possible through a grant from Halliburton. Held once a month, these events provide extra educational activities focused on a science topic and are included with regular museum admission. The open-ended nature of the activities allow visitors to come and go while exploring museum exhibits and the planetarium. Geared toward elementary and middle school age groups, all ages are welcome. Adults and older children can have fun learning and helping younger children.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Science Museum is a regional science center serving families, schools and visitors. By applying the latest technology to interactive experiences and immersive education, LSM promotes interest and inspires careers in science, technology, engineering and math.
